It's Showtime!!!
It's that time of year again! The pro's have re-emerged to show us all how to do it properly and put us to shame. With Chelsea just about over and Bloom just up ahead we should turn to these for inspiration in our own gardens.
Diarmuid Gavin caused quite a stir with his "floating garden" and managed to pick up a gold medal for his efforts.

The Floating Irish Garden
The Irish star said of his victory "The RHS is a relatively conservative organisation and I’m not conservative. My designs are different to what they’re usually looking for but I’ve never felt annoyed at their conservatism and they invite me back every year."
The garden itself is the first of its kind, lifting vistors 25 metres into the air with the aid of a crane, giving a spectacular view of the show. Cork County council, in association with Fáilte Ireland, have funded the project with the generous sum of €2.3 million, in the hopes that it will draw tourism to the City of Cork. The garden is to be brought back to Cork in June and suspended there for the forseeable future. It is hoped that the unusual feature in Corks skyline will draw a crowd.

Construction of the garden being carried out by the Irish team
We can't forget that Irish Gardeners at home are getting ready to make their mark over the June Bank Holiday in Phoenix Park. Thousands of garden lovers will flock to the 5 day long Bloom 2011 festival to sample some of what Irish gardeners have to offer.
Last year was a raving success, just click HERE and take a peak at this video below to see what I mean!
This year promises to be even better! We have been handing out little 2 for 1 ticket vouchers with every €20 spent in the shop and they have been going down a treat! Be sure to pop in soon and get one for yourself and a friend! The festival has something for everyone! Whether you're an old hand at the garden or just starting your very own veggie patch be sure to give it a look in! There's even a special section to keep the kids entertained and a Food Market to keep the bellys full.
Talk soon,
Elaine
